It has been suggested that Apple is going to bring out a larger screened device taht could actually rival Samsung's Galaxy Note.</p> <span class="fullpost"><p>Apple is currently shipping the iPhone 5 with a 4 inch display which is considerably smaller than Samsung's 5 inch panel that is seen on the Galaxy S4.  The extra inch does make for quite a bit more screen and makes full HD display possible.  The Galaxy S4 runs at 1920x1080 pixels or 441 pixels per inch whereas the iPhone 5 sits at 1136x640 and 326 pixels per inch. This is quite a difference.</p> <p>Rumors that Apple's next handset will feature a pocket bursting 5 inch plus display have led to a new concept featuring an iPhone 5.7.  We have to admit, we weren't all that keen on the idea of a larger iPhone phablet until we saw this concept and we can honestly say that now we want one.</p> <p>The concept offers a handset packed with the same resolution screen as Samsung's along with a quad core A7 chip in order to make it easier for iOS 7 to push all those pixels around.  Placed side by side with an iPhone 5 showing iOS 7's colorful interface, it is clear that the 5.7 inch iPhone would look stunning.  The only question we have is would it be a little bit too big for people to really use.</p> <p>Being realistic, we think that a 5 inch device would be better than a 5.7 inch one, but with Samsung's Galaxy Note series selling really well, what's to say that Apple won't skip the 5 inch market? Stranger things have happened but like all Apple rumors we have to wait and see.  There are so many rumors about what Apple will incorporate into the next iPhone so until we have any official confirmation we really don't know. The release of iOS 6.1.1 last week that fixed lingering cellular and battery issues with the iPhone 4S is also susceptible to this security flaw.</p> <span class="fullpost"> <p>An urgent update is required from Apple to sort the mess out and according to iFun this should happen early this week.  Whenever Apple releases a new software update, users are quick to check it out and report any issues that they find.  When it comes to security issues though, users are less likely to forgive these mistakes.  The major security flaw was discovered last Wednesday.</p> <p>Apple has always prided itself on its high level of security in its software product so a new update being released so soon was always likely.  It isn't known at this stage whether the untethered Evasi0n jailbreak will also be patched with this new update but hopefully with all the fuss and rushing with this new update they won't spoil things just yet.  Apple have already acknowledged the Exchange problem and they are said to have people working around the clock to prepare a suitable fix for this. As far as data from IBM goes, online sales were up 17.4% and 20.7% from 2011 for the same two days.  The biggest surge in sales came from mobile consumers and it was led by the iPad according to the report.<p>  <span class="fullpost"><p>Below are some of the highlight of Apple orientated findings from the IBM report.</p> <p>Mobile Shopping:  24% of U.S. Consumers used their mobile device to shop which was up from 14.3% in 2011.  Mobile sales exceeded 16% which was up from 9.8% in 2011.</p> <p>Apple:  The iPad generated more traffic than any other tablet or smartphone reaching nearly 10% of online shopping.  The iPhone followed at 8.7% with the android coming in at 5.5%.</p><p>The iPad:  The iPad dominated tablet traffic at 88.3% followed by the Barnes and Noble Nook at 3.1%.  Amazon's Kindle was 2.4% and the Samsung Galaxy was 1.8%.  There was only 5.5% of shopping related browsing done on Android devices during the holiday season proving that Apple's OS is the most popular.</p> <p>Overall, 58% of consumers used smartphones compared to 41% who used tablets to surf for bargains on Black Friday.  Shoppers referred from Social Networks such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube generated 0.34% of all online sales on Black Friday which was a decrease of more than 35% from 2011.</p>  </span> </span></span>

This comes as part of the speculation on what the reported Apple media event due to take place in early March will bring.  This media event will let everyone know what the new iPad 3 is gong to hold and many think that Apple could be planning more. <span class="fullpost">   <br /><br />A large number of the rumors around the iPad 3 seem to be in agreement that it will feature retina display and have an improved rear camera.  Over the past couple of days there has been disagreement over the processing power that the new iPad 3 will have.  Some say it will be the quad-core idea whilst other believe that Apple will stick with the current A5 offering as a base but improve on the existing chip by possibly adding an improved graphics engine.<br /><br />If these latest reports are to be believed, Apple could be planning a double barrelled approach by improving the A5 chip and developing an improved quad-core processor which is likely to be called the A6.  9To5Mac are reporting that the A5X chip is a halfway upgrade between the current a5 model and the next model which will be the Apple A6.  Evidence has also been found within the iOS 5.1 beta releases that points to Apple working on the S5L8950X and S5L8945X model numbers which would seem to point to two individual processors with the current A5 model being the S5L8940x number.  <br /><br />The fact that two separate processors are being worked on by Apple will be enough to produce plenty of rumors and possibilities but if this is what is happening then logic reasoning would point to the fact that the A6 chip would be used in the new iPad 3 while the A5X processor could be used in the revamped Apple TV set top box.  As with all rumors this is just speculation and it could be that Apple is deciding which processor to use. This ruling was a major blow for Apple especially as they had invested so much time and money into making their devices and their operating systems as secure as possible.  Apple has always been a public advocate for making jailbreaking an unlawful act. <span class="fullpost">   <br /><br />Apple released a short statement at the time that stated that whilst jailbreaking would be officially legal it would still void any official Apple warranties.  Apple also stated that their goal was to insure that customers have a great experience with their iPhone and that jailbreaking could severely degrade the experience.<br /><br />Last week we saw that the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) is lobbying for users to add their electronic voice to a petition which aims to ask the United States Government to declare once again that jailbreaking an iPhone does not violate the DMCA.  The EFF are asking for this initial exemption, which is set to expire to be extended to cover tablet devices such as the Apple iPad which is not currently covered in the original ruling.<br /><br />Charlie Miller who is an iOS developer is an advocate for this change and he has been alerting his Twitter followers to the petition and directing them to the EFF website where they can add their voice.  A recent Tweet by Charlie Miller makes a plea for users to sign the online petition to help keep jailbreaking legal and to add the iPad to the ruling.<br /><br />A lot of people were under the illusion that the ruling was permanent and that no further action is needed but Miller has been quick to point out that this is not the case.  The Digital Millennium Copyright Act is due to expire and according to statistics, the new Absinthe jailbreak tool which is being downloaded by so many shows that jailbreaking is still extremely popular and the jailbreaking community is thriving and expanding. Back in December 2011, the Michigan Institute of Education announced the launch of an online learning initiative which will offer a select portfolio of MIT courses through a web based platform. We also reported not so long ago that Carrier IQ was also keeping tabs on the iPhone which has added even more fuel to the fire.  The iOS iteration even though it is not as daunting as the Google Android still poses as an invasion of privacy.  <br /><br />Apple has confirmed that they are currently in the phasing out process of the controversial software and that they will be completely removing it in a future software update.  They have not stated when this future update will be and iOS 5.1 has already been sent out to developers but whether it has been removed or not we don�t know.  <br /><br />Apple did release a statement in relation to this matter and this is what they had to say:<br /><br />We stopped supporting Carrier IQ with iOS 5 in most of our products and will remove it completely in a future software update. With any diagnostic data sent to Apple, customers must actively opt-in to share this information, and if they do, the data is sent in an anonymous and encrypted form and does not include any personal information. We never recorded keystrokes, messages or any other personal information for diagnostic data and have no plans to ever do so.<br /><br />If you do have an iPhone or other iDevice and you want to make sure that you are not being watched over you can do this manually by opening the settings icon and going to General > About > Diagnostics & Usage > and opt for Don�t Send.  This will ensure that all your information and data is kept private until Apple completely remove the Carrier IQ from their software.</span>  </span></span>

The event that is to be held this week is going to be the first event without Steve Jobs and his successor Tim Cook is going to take the lead.<br /><br />A new iPhone is expected to be revealed with a number of changes.  The biggest changes are expected to be inside the phone with the introduction of Apple�s latest iOS mobile software, iOS 5, which was due to be released in the autumn.  iOS 5 is said to include things such as wireless device setup and content synching and a beefed up camera.  Email and web browsing apps are also said to be improved.  A new iMessage service will also allow iOS 5 users to send text messages to each other over Wi-Fi or wireless camera.  A new folder called Newsstand is going to contain all newspaper and magazine app subscriptions so it will be easier to find.<br /><br />A new iPhone is also expected to include Apple�s forthcoming iCloud service which will store content such as music, apps, photos and documents on Apple�s servers and let users access them wirelessly on different devices.<br /><br />The new iPhone isn�t expected to look that much different from the iPhone 4 but it is thought that it could be thinner and have a bigger screen.  An improved camera is also expected. In order to end the year with a bang, Apple are really stepping up their games and now consumers who reside in Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland and the United Arab Emirates will now be able to order products from Apple thanks to the launch of some brand new Apple online stores.<br /><br />The addition of these new stores means that a total of 37 countries across the world can now connect, show and preview items on the Cupertino company�s roster.  The launch of a new iPhone has always created buzz but this particular launch is set to be the biggest yet.  <br /><br />Indications suggest that Apple is looking to go all out with this launch and they have measures in place to cope with the huge demand that is being expected.  Foxconn, the company�s iDevice manufacturer is said to be working tirelessly, producing nearly a million iPhone a week. On the website All Things D you can read all about it and why the date has been changed from September to October.<br /><br />With so many different reports circulating and rumored dates of September and October it really is getting very hard to predict when Apple will unveil the next generation iPhone and like most people out there I guess we really going to have to wait and that wait could be an additional 30 days if these new reports are to be believed.<br /><br />We don�t even know for sure about the design of the next model as there are contradicting reports surrounding this too.  Some say that the next iPhone will have an iPhone 4 like design whilst others suggest that the next generation iPhone will have a tapered curved design.<br /><br />Again it is all really just speculation and until Apple decides to put us all out of our misery and unveil the product no one can be certain for sure.  So whether it will be a September launch or an October launch no one really can say for sure all we can say is that the next generation iPhone will be launched sometime this year. This is the second update in a month and this new iOS version is not expected to receive an untethered jailbreak anytime soon.  The advice from the iPhone Dev Team is to stay away from this is you want an untethered jailbreak.<span class="fullpost"><br /><br />The warning was issued by @MuscleNerd who is a prominent member of the iPhone Dev Team and he advised jailbreakers to stay away from the iOS 4.3.5 update on his Twitter account.<br /><br />The new iOS 4.3.5 came as a surprise for so many people especially when you consider that iOS 5 is being developed and due for release early in the Fall.  iOS 4.3.5 update was issued and includes a fix for a security issue when validating certificates but not much else was changed as far as we know.<br /><br />There is no untethered jailbreak available and there might not be seeing as though iOS 5 is fast approaching.  If you do want a jailbreak you can still get a tethered jailbreak using Redsn0w.  With the tethered jailbreak you are required to plug your device into a computer running Redsn0w every time it starts up in order to boot it into jailbroken state and this can be a pain.<br /><br />As for untethered jailbreaks it is suspected that the jailbreaking community might not want to expose any more vulnerabilities in the iOS code at the moment as they would be fixed in iOS 5.  If this is the case it will mean that jailbreaking iOS 5 will be easier and it will happen much quicker when it is released.  For the time being users are urged to stick with iOS 4.3.3 or earlier and not to upgrade if they want to keep their untethered jailbreaks.</span></span></span>
