Apple Sends Out Invites For Special Event On January 19 In New York

There wasn't a great deal of information available last week but it now looks like Apple have sent out media invites for this event which will be held on the 19th of January in New York. These invitations follow the familiar pattern of being visually simplistic and not giving away any specifics other than confirming the date and that it will be based around an educational announcement. Now that this event data and topic have been confirmed speculation can begin on the actual specifics of the event and the nature of the announcement that Apple will be making. Back in December 2011, the Michigan Institute of Education announced the launch of an online learning initiative which will offer a select portfolio of MIT courses through a web based platform. It is well known that Cupertino has a long standing relationship with MIT and people are wondering if this is what the announcement will be about. Other stories have centred around the fact that the announcement could be related to the iBooks store and application which users can download free of charge and many are thinking that learning text books could become available on iBooks. Others are wondering if Apple are going to introduce a platform where people can create and upload their own books to the iBooks store similar to Amazon Kindle. The iPad is also something that many are taking about and many are wondering if the adoption of the iPad into educational learning environments could be on the cards. iPhone 5 Launch Could Be Held On Cupertino Campus

The event is thought to be held on the 4th of October and at Apple�s Cupertino Campus. No one knows the reason for this but one possibility is that schedules may be clashing. It is believed that Oracle has already booked the YBCA for October 4, which leaves Apple without their traditional venue. Another reason could be the fact that Apple need to be a little more flexible with their venue in case their launch date changes. There have been some reports that have suggested that the fifth generation handset might not be ready in time and that a staggered launch with a less dramatic iPhone 4S will be revealed first. Apple could of course just be opting for a less dramatic event for the newly appointed Tim Cook to make his debut. He is expected to be taking center stage along with the iPhone 5 itself and we are sure that all eyes will be on his performance especially after what his predecessor has done. Invitations for the launch event have not yet been issued so again this is rumor and speculation and we will have to wait to see what the official reports are when the time comes.
