In fact, it is five times more powerful than the original iPad mini. Whenever a new device is released, the benchmark tests begin and the iPad mini 2 has been put through its paces and compared with some of the other devices in the iOS product line. This new device is almost identical to the iPhone 5s in terms of speed, although both the iPad mini 2 with Retina display and the iPhone 5s fall slightly behind the iPad Air which is faster than both of these. Considering that all these devices have the same A7 processor and M7 motion coprocessor, they are virtually identical in term fo their main hardware. The GeekBench results clock the iPad mini with Retina display in a 1.29 Ghz, with the iPhone 5s having already been clocked at 1.30 Ghz. The iPad Air comes in at 1.39 Ghz which brings some justification to the fact that the base model is $100 more expensive than that of the Retina iPad mini. With that said, all three of these devices are powerful and smooth and many users would find it difficult to notice any real difference between the iPad Air and the iPad mini with Retina display in terms of general usage. When the Retina iPad mini is compared to the first generation mini however, there are real differences. This new model is 5 times more powerful and it is really noticeable. The iPad mini has sold really well since it launched last year but many people felt it could have been better. The lack of Retina display was a big thing for many so fans are going to be delighted to finally have the Retina iPad mini available to them today. People have been queuing outside stores in the United States and Europe for more than 24 hours in a bid to guarantee they are the first to get their hands on Apple's best performing iPad to date. To some it may seem like nothing more than an update to the iPad line but for others it is the must have gadget of the season. Apple is trying to make sure that as many iPad fans as possible will get their hands on the device from the word go by pushing the product out to 42 countries on launch day. Those based in Australia were the first to get their hands on the new iPad Air, but residents of all the other 41 countries will be able to put the 64-bit device through its paces by the close of business today. We should also mention, that if the iPad Air isn't your thing, the second generation is still being offered as a cheaper alternative. Apple's �power of air� table is available in two color options: Space Gray or Silver with the 16GB Wi-Fi only model starting at $499. The price tag rises by $100 increments for each storage upgrade. The 32Gb model is $599, the 64GB model is $699 and the 128Gb model costs $799. If you want wi-fi and cellular the starting price is $629 rising to $929. If this seems a bit too much and a smaller tablet is what you are looking for, Apple is rumored to release the Retina iPad mini 2 in three weeks time. That's right, the iPad mini 2 with Retina display should hit the shelves on the 21st of November. Featuring the same Apple A7 chip, this miniature device has been kitted out with a gorgeous new display and ships with the latest version of iOS 7. The choice is yours and with the iPad Air going on sale today we can expect to hear a lot more about this device in the coming weeks.

It has a 9.7 inch Retina panel and it definitely is a really winner over all the tablets we have seen to date. The iPad Air offers a 64-bit A7 processor coupled with the M7 motion coprocessor. The new A7 processor is twice as fast as the processor found in the iPad 4. The iPad Air comes in two colors; Space Gray and Silver and will be available on the 1st of November in 41 countries around the world. Apple also announced the new iPad mini 2 with Retina display. As well as packing a wonderfully-crisp Retina panel, the smaller of the two tables also includes quite a few features that we're more than familiar with including the A7 processor. This is a huge step up from the A5 which was seen in the original iPad mini and makes it a serioulsy worthy counterpart to the full sized iPad Air. The device now offers a 2,048 x 1,536 resolution panel, which makes photos crisper, apps clearer and iOS 7 a little bit more beautiful. The iPad mini 2 comes in Space Gray and Silver. The iPad mini 2 with Retina display comes in 16, 32 and 64GB storage configurations in either Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi + Cellular and will be available in November.

The most obvious device that we expect Apple to demonstrate and make available very soon is the iPad mini 2. We expect that this device will come with Retina display but there are some questions around what CPU power the device will have and whether or not Apple will bring Touch ID to this tablet. The next device is the iPad 5 and this is set to be based on a chip that closely resembles the A7 found in the iPhone 5s. The iPad 5 might also get Apple's new Touch ID. The new larger iPads are always seen as Apple's high-end tablets so bringing a fingerprint sensor to the iPad 5 makes perfect sense. The iPad 5 is also expected to feature a new, smaller bezel. On the software front, and hot on the heels of iOS 7 we expect to see OS X Mavericks demonstrated. Now this this version of OS X 10.9 has been seeded to developers, we wouldn't be at all surprised if Apple launched the new operating system tomorrow making it available instantly via the Mac App store. We are also hoping to have answers regarding the Mac Pro and how much it will cost. The MacBook Pro is another item and Intel's Haswell seems to be the new kid on the block and is currently powering the MacBook Air. Bringing the new chip to the MacBook Pro is just a matter of time and we might just see this revealed tomorrow too. It looks as if all of the iWork and iLife suite of apps for iOS are going to be updated with their iOS 7 makeovers for Tueday too. There really are lots of things that might happen tomorrow and as always we have to wait and see what really does transpire.

The tagline on the invites says �We still have a lot to cover�, and this will probably lead to a lot more speculation over what this event will hold. The expected iPad event will be held at the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco on October 22nd at 10.00am PT. Apple has used this venue on a number of occasions to introduce new hardware so it should feel like home for the attending media and company executives. If we are to go on history, we already know that device specific speculation goes into overdrive when an event has been officially announced. There has already been a great deal of rumors surrounding the potential introduction of the iPad mini2 that could come with Retina display and a faster processor. A lot of iPad mini owners have complained about the performance compromises on the device when iOS 7 is installed so an improvement under the hood would be a very welcome addition for those who prefer the 7.9 inch tablet. The inclusion of a fingerprint sensor in the iPhone 5s and accompanying introduction of the Touch ID technology has also increased speculation about the future of the iPad. Apple's Touch ID detection allows users to unlock the device as well as authenticate App Store purchases by scanning a pre-registered fingerprint on the home button of the iPhone 5s. Rumor has it that the same technology will be adapted and used in the iPad 5. Whether or not the iPad mini will get the same biometric based love is another story. An October announcement means that the iPad range will be available for the holiday shopping season. The iPad 5 is expected to borrow the same form factor that has made the iPad mini such a winner, with thinner bezels allowing the iPad to be brought down to size. We have all be anxiously awaiting this addition but according to a new report, it seems that the retina display iPad mini won't be ready until 2014. When the iPad mini first launched it got away without having the retina disply that is a feature of all other Apple devices but with a new model expected, everyone does expect that the iPad mini 2 will have this feature. The iPad mini 2 is expected in the next couple of months and one report is now claiming that is may not actually feature retina display at least not for this year. It seems that a shortage of retina displays of the required size is set to push Apple's retina iPad mini back to 2014. This is disappointing but it is not the first time that we have heard rumors that the iPad mini might not get retina display in its 2nd generation. We are still hoping that this report is wrong but as always we have to wait for official confirmation before we take anything as truth. Another interesting thing that we have learned is that Apple plans to ship two version of the iPad mini when retina display does become available and consumers will have the option of puchasing a model with or without retina display. We don't know how this will work but it does suggest that Apple might just be struggling to meet its current price point when including the retina panel which is a concern for people who don't want to spend too much. The iPad mini has been a massive success for Apple and with the next generation model guaranteed to sell well, adding retina display should really seal the deal.

Normally we find that the analysts tend to be on target with the predictions and forecasts in the initial stages of the year and so far in 2013 we have seen a number of these. Brian White of Topeka Capital Markets is said to have been in talks with industry sources and claims that the fifth generation iPad and a second generation iPad mini will be released in March. This news that new devices are to arrive just 20 weeks after the initial launch is likely to meet with a lot of anger from those who have already purchased the devices. From a technical point of view, the decision to remove a lot of bulk from the iPad should be met favorably by consumers. When it comes to the iPad mini there is talk of upgraded components including an upgraded processor but in his report, White makes no mention of retina display. As with all reports and rumors, we do have to wait for the official word from Apple before we know for certain what is going to happen.
