We know that they are going to bring out the new iPhone 5S and a budget iPhone dubbed the iPhone 5C, but there are rumors of the iPad 5 and a second generation iPad mini too. A report from Bloomberg states that we could see Apple unveiling some new iPads at the event too. The iPad 5 is expected to borrow the same form factor that has made the iPad mini such a winner, with thinner bezels allowing the iPad to be brought down to size. The second generation iPad mini might incorporate a retina display which was the main gripe that most consumers had with this device. Bloomberg didn't explicitly state that the iPads would definitely be introduced in September and we could see Apple holding off until October to release them. Last year we had the iPhone 5 released in September and the iPad 4 was released the following month. With two iPhones set to be released this time around, it could be a bit too much for Apple to announce everything in the one go. So there you have it, the iPad 5 and the iPad mini 2 could possibly be unveiled next month. The latest report suggests that the iPad 5 will be 15% thinner and 25% lighter than the iPad 4. The release date for this new iPad could be as early as June so this increased attention might well be warranted. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who tends to have reliable information has said that he believes the next Apple tablet will be dramatically thinner and lighter than the rather bloated fourth generation iPad. He estimates that the iPad 5 will be 15% thinner and 25% lighter than the current iPad. This falls in line with suggestions of a much more iPad mini-esque form factor. Kuo goes on to say that the next full-sized iPad will feature thinner bezels along the longer edges like the iPad mini which will in turn allow the device to be slightly narrower. He also states that the next iPad will measure in at around 7.5 � 8.0mm in depth and weight just 500g. This is a very big drop in bulk. Kuo also states that the device will pack in an A7X processor but that the cameras will remain unchanged. The 5 megapixel iSight of the iPad 4 is not great but then again, very few people use their iPads to take pictures so it makes sense for Apple to concentrate on the more important issues. The iPad mini is a beautiful device so it makes sense for Apple to revert to this appearance so that both of these products are in line with each other and it also promotes a more uniform look across the board. The next generation iPad looks to be the biggest leap since the third generation model bought us retina display. The iPad mini also looks set to have retina display added too. If all these changes do come about, it will make Apple's continued dominance in the tablet market difficult for rival vendors to falter.

The fourth generation iPad was almost identical to the iPad 2 except that it was heavier and thicker. It is strongly suspected that Apple is going to change the upcoming iPad 5 to make it more beautiful adding a touch of anodized aluminum. We still don't know if this really will be the case but a leaked image of the iPad 5 bezel seem to indicate that from the front the next generation iPad could be borrowing a few design points from the iPad mini. Apple's decision to make the bezel thinner along the two vertical axes of the iPad mini is seen as being much more efficient from a design perspective and it also makes it easier for users to hold. It also looks much better. This leaked image could be just another person trying to ignite the rumor mill but with Apple having made no effort to alter the iPad 4's design, it may just be that Apple is planning to make some amendments this time round. It's not very often that Apple releases products that are heavier or thicker than their predecessors, so a new iPad mini like design for the new iPad 5 could be on the cards. This will give us a lighter and better looking design too. The iPad 4 is pretty bloated considering how many revisions it has seen and it launched just seven months after the iPad 3. Leaks suggest that there could be a lot more time and effort being put into the next generation model. The leaked image that we received cannot be verified so it is hard to tell whether it is fake or not and as with all rumors and leaked images we do have to wait on offical confirmation from Apple before we know exactly what we are getting. With that said, we fully expect to see Apple modernize the full size iPad to create a uniform look with the iPad mini. Apple are really pleased with the shape and materials that were used for the iPad mini and it looks like their next iPad being dubbed the iPad 5 will adopt some of these design traits. The current iPad design is seen to be the best on the market but not everyone is a fan of larger bezels and it looks like Apple have put measures in place to prevent accidental thumb and finger presses and can now finally downsize the bezel. We can't take these leaked images as being a definite especially when Apple haven't released an official statement. However, the anodized aluminum design of the iPad mini and the iPhone 5 have been a huge hit with customers so it does make sense that the next generation iPad will follow suit. Normally we find that the analysts tend to be on target with the predictions and forecasts in the initial stages of the year and so far in 2013 we have seen a number of these. Brian White of Topeka Capital Markets is said to have been in talks with industry sources and claims that the fifth generation iPad and a second generation iPad mini will be released in March. This news that new devices are to arrive just 20 weeks after the initial launch is likely to meet with a lot of anger from those who have already purchased the devices. From a technical point of view, the decision to remove a lot of bulk from the iPad should be met favorably by consumers. When it comes to the iPad mini there is talk of upgraded components including an upgraded processor but in his report, White makes no mention of retina display. As with all reports and rumors, we do have to wait for the official word from Apple before we know for certain what is going to happen.
