It has been reported that there could be two different configurations for this bigger iPad and a theory as to the reason behind this was revealed by PadNews. They stated that one of the bigger iPad would have a standard 2K display while the other, higher-end model would have a 4K panel. The talk of 4K displays has been really popular over the past little while, with all kinds of devices and machines showing support for this higher definition standard. The latest next generation consoles all offer 4K Ultra HD support to varying degrees, but this doesn't necessarily means that Apple is about to do the same. Apple are famous for going against the grain, and with LTE having only arrived last year, we don't see Apple feeling under any pressure to conform to this latest trend. Having said that, when it comes to display technology, Apple has been among the first to test new things and you only have to look at their iOS devices and MacBooks to know that sharp displays are a top priority. In bumping up the size of the iPad to 12.9 inches, Apple will have to up the resolution somewhat to maintain the arbitrary Retina standard, so the suggestion of a 4K display isn't that preposterous. If there are to be two different variations though, we'd expect that the second, 2K model would arrive with an iPad Air-like resolution of 2048 x 1536 or similar. We never really know if the rumors that do the rounds are true or not, but one thing we do know is that a 12.9 inch iPad with a 4K display would look amazing. At around 400 pixels per inch, it would beat anything else found on a mobile device and with iOS 7, we can only imagine what things would look like on this kind of resolution. We are seeing more and more companies going larger than the 9.7 inch diameter of the full size iPad device and there have been plenty of suggestions that Apple is going to release a 12.9 inch Retina iPad in 2014. If rumors are to be believed, manufacturers have been given the go ahead to produce this large iPad which is going to be called the iPad Pro. It is due to be released during the first part of 2014. Just as with all the talk about the iPad mini prior to its release, the notion of an iPad Pro has been received with a decided amount of skepticism. The Korea Times have seemingly been informed that production of the 12.9 inch retina display is now in motion and we could see our first real indicator that this device is indeed real and will be released early next year. The iPad 4, iPad Air and both iPad minis enjoyed a fall release ready for the holiday season, but with Apple familiar with what it takes to release an iPad in March, it could well be that the company is planning an early release of what will be the largest iPad to date. Apple does seem to have the form factor down to a fine art, with the uniform look and feel of the iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display the subject of much acclaim. As such, we would expect the iPad Pro to look similar to the current models, but include that larger screen and perhaps more power. Maintaining the Retina display over a larger surface area will push the iPad Pro into UHD territory. We also have to take into account if there is a market for such a big device. KGI Securitie's fairly accurate analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has also suggested that Apple will release a refreshed iPad Air early next year so we are going to take the rumors of the iPad Pro with a pinch of salt for the moment until more information is released. ETNews has reported that the device is going to have a 5-inch display, which is much more in keeping with the current market trends. The reports also goes on to talk about the iWatch which will reportedly feature a flexible OLED display and more. Most smartphone vendors are turning out devices with 5-inch+ and even bigger displays but Apple has always stayed faithful to the notion that the consumer prefers a panel that can be held and navigated comfortably with one hand. Indeed, the 3.5-inch display of the original iPhone stayed the same until the launch of the iPhone 5 and while this slight jump up to 4 inches has given iPhone users a little more display, even the iPhone 5s and 5c cut a rather feeble figure when compared to some of the industry's real monsters. This is not the first time we have heard reports of Apple increasing the size of their display and the Wall Street Journal recently talked about the idea that Apple was thinking about making the display between 5 and 6 inches. If Apple does decide to go with this idea, you can bet that they will keep on of the 4 inch model around for a while so that they can guage just how many consumers are looking to enjoy iOS on an Android sized device. ETNews also reported on the full-size iPad that will be taking on a similar form fact to the iPad mini when it is released next month. This report also suggests that Apple is planning an 12.9-inch iPad which is due to be released some time during 2014. Finally, in their report, they included information on the so-called iWatch which will apparently feature a flexible OLED display from LG. It all sounds great and we can't wait to see how these rumors hold up and if Apple will release any of these products.

We know that they are going to bring out the new iPhone 5S and a budget iPhone dubbed the iPhone 5C, but there are rumors of the iPad 5 and a second generation iPad mini too. A report from Bloomberg states that we could see Apple unveiling some new iPads at the event too. The iPad 5 is expected to borrow the same form factor that has made the iPad mini such a winner, with thinner bezels allowing the iPad to be brought down to size. The second generation iPad mini might incorporate a retina display which was the main gripe that most consumers had with this device. Bloomberg didn't explicitly state that the iPads would definitely be introduced in September and we could see Apple holding off until October to release them. Last year we had the iPhone 5 released in September and the iPad 4 was released the following month. With two iPhones set to be released this time around, it could be a bit too much for Apple to announce everything in the one go. So there you have it, the iPad 5 and the iPad mini 2 could possibly be unveiled next month. The lack of retina display and the high price tag wasn't something that many favored but the design seemed to satisfy everyone. Apple are really pleased with the shape and materials that were used for the iPad mini and it looks like their next iPad being dubbed the iPad 5 will adopt some of these design traits. An image leak of the back cover of the next generation iPad looks like it takes most of its design from the iPad mini and it includes a thinner side bezel. These images can be viewed on 9to5Mac. The current iPad design is seen to be the best on the market but not everyone is a fan of larger bezels and it looks like Apple have put measures in place to prevent accidental thumb and finger presses and can now finally downsize the bezel. We can't take these leaked images as being a definite especially when Apple haven't released an official statement. However, the anodized aluminum design of the iPad mini and the iPhone 5 have been a huge hit with customers so it does make sense that the next generation iPad will follow suit. We will of course have to wait to see what Apple is planning but until then we can all enjoy the latest iPad 4 release with a 128GB of memory.

To do this they are reportedly planning to announce and release a fifth generation of the iPad in March of 2013. This speculated release date is notable because it means that the next iPad will be released just five months after the current model was announced. This also means that Apple will have releaesed the third, fourth and fifth generation models in a 12 month period. The fifth generation iPad information comes courtesy of Macotakara which is a Japanese blog which has been very active in the iPad prediction market over the past twelve months. They have also claimed that the fifth generation iPad will bring the device more in line with the aesthetics of the iPad mini by making it lighter and thinner as well as slightly changing the device's shell. This rumor also seems to fall in line with speculations that Apple could be changing tactics in favor of a six monthly release cycle for the iPad rather than releasing new hardware every twelve months. It is unclear as to how consumers will feel about this though because it will mean that a new version of their device will be released every six months and it could lead to a dramatic fall in sales as consumers realize that their product will be outdated after just a couple of months of use. In relation to the overall specifications fo the upcoming fifth generation iPad, there is no information available. It is likely that we will see an upgrade and major improvements to the iPad mini in the coming year with the introduction of a retina display and an improved processor ripped straight from the fourth generation iPad, but as yet we really don't know. For now, this is all the information we have received but we are sure that once the new year arrives the rumor mill will begin and information will start to become available.

You will be aware that Apple launched their current generation iPad back in March of this year and it has seen a huge improvement over its previous model. Sales figures to date also show that the current iPad has been the more successful than what was originally hoped for. This iPad includes retina display and Apple�s A 5X chip. However, not everyone can be pleased all the time and there are those who believe that Apple took a step backwards by making the new iPad thicker and slightly heavier than its predecessor. In order to receive the required specifications for this iPad the weight and thickness had to be bumped up a little. If DigiTimes is to be believed, then it seems that Apple is planning to right these wrongs with the release of a new and improved iPad later this year. One of the reasons for the thickness was the inability of Sharp to mass produce LCD panels built around their IGZO technology that dramatically decreases the power needed to efficiently output light through the display. According to the report that we have read, Sharp have managed to get their production line in order and this means that Apple is now able to include that technology into a new iPad that will be as light and thin as the iPad 2. To us however, it does seem like a far fetched story and we can�t image that Apple would break their traditional release schedules especially when you consider that the current iPad is selling so well. Perhaps they will incorporate this new technology into the next iPad but for it to be released this year, that we can�t see happening. What do you guys think?
