In this post, we want to look at all the details we have so far starting from the last iOS 6 jailbreak. The first thing we can definitely say is that progress is being made but that those of your hoping for a jailbreak very soon are going to be disappointed. Jailbreaks take time and often a couple of months before we see anything concrete. It is more likely that we won't see anything until iOS 7.1 or further. The good news though is that certain members of the jailbreak community have found some exploits and they are working to see if these can be turned into a jailbreak. He also went on to say that his team has achieved unsigned userland based code execution in iOS 7 and they are going to start exploring the kernel next. It is still too early to make anything out of this but it is great to see that the Evad3rs team are actively working on jailbreaking iOS 7. Since the launch of Evasi0n which provided an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6 and was later patch by Apple with iOS 6.1.3, there has been some recent breakthroughs. It seems that iOS 6.1.4 has been jailbroken by Winocm which is again great news for those who lost their jailbreak by updating their firmware. If you are running a jailbroken iOS device and you want to keep it intact, or you are running iOS 6.1.4 and in need of a jailbreak, do not upgrade to iOS 7 until you receive further confirmation from either Evad3rs or Winocm. Currently, all A5+ devices cannot be jailbroken on the current iOS version which is 6.1.3 or 6.1.4. This means that those who may have been holding out hope for an untethered jailbreak for Apple's latest firmware offering can stop now. The team do however have several potential exploits on the table for an eventual jailbreak of a more significant iOS version in the future so that is some pretty cool news. There really is no point in Evad3rs spending time searching for exploits for iOS 6.1.3 when it is more than likely that we will see the next major iOS release later this year and any exploits that they are holding up their sleeves would be better off staying there until then. After all, when iOS 7 and the next generation iPhone hits the shelves people are going to want to be able to jailbreak these and personally we think Evad3rs should hold their cards close to their chest until then. If they were to jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 their exploits would be patched by Apple in the next firmware release so it's better for them to wait. We can't rule out the possiblity of a third party working to bring an untethered jailbreak to the latest iOS firmware release but it does seem pretty improbable. The message to take from this, is that if you are running a device on iOS 6.1.3, you won't be getting an untethered jailbreak any time soon, if ever. Those who have just purchased a device running iOS 6.1.3 have sadly missed the boat as you can only jailbreak up as far as iOS 6.1.2 but when iOS 7 releases later this year everyone will be on a level playing field again as the jailbreak community looks once more to try and find the exploits in Apple's new offering.

This was confirmed on both their Twitter accounts earlier today. While this news may be somewhat disheartening to those stuck on iOS 6.1.3, the Evasi0n jailbreak did afford everyone ample time to sort their devices out on iOS 6 and apply the untethered jailbreak while they could. The takeaway news here is that those who are on iOS 6.1.3 are very unlikely to see an untethered jailbreak and the next major release expected is to be iOS 7 which should be released sometime between July and September. If you are waiting on an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 then you might just have to wait for iOS 7 first.

Two new versions of iOS have been released since the launch of Evasi0n but these were to fix critical bugs and neither of them affected this untethered jailbreak. A report on the Forbes website however, suggests that Apple is working on patching the various exploits that allow Evasi0n to work and they are planning a new iOS release. Planetbeing has been speaking with Forbes' Andy Greenberg and he has revealed that iOS 6.1.3 beta 2 which was released a couple of days ago, patches at least one of the bugs that was exploited by the Evasi0n jailbreak. This could mean the end of the Evasi0n jailbreak for devices pre-installed with iOS 6.1.3. Anyone who is running the current version of iOS 6 and wants to retain their untethered jailbreak should refrain from updating their software. The patched vulnerability pertains to the Time Zone setting and although Planetbeing is still currently running some tests, the domino effect of having one exploit patched will have devastating effects on the Evasi0n jailbreak. Planetbeing has stated that if one of the vulnerabilities doesn't work, Evasi0n doesn't work. He also said that they could replace that part with a different vulnerability, but Apple will probably fix most if not all of the bugs that have been used when iOS 6.1.3 is released. Several million idevices have been jailbroken since the release of Evasi0n and it now looks like the end of the ride. It could be another month before we see the next firmware update. We will of course be keeping a close eye on things as they progress and will be sure to update you as news arrives. Until then, if you are using a jailbroken device, we recommend that you stick with your current iOS version and don't update your device until someone in the jailbreak scene says it is safe to do so.

To disable the ability to manage mobile meetings on iOS devices. These along with battery life issues will no doubt be something that Apple will want to fix as quickly as they can. Apple updates are often released to address specific bugs or vulnerabilities and many fear that this new release will affect the recently released iOS 6 jailbreak, Evasi0n. More than 100,000 people downloaded the package within the first ten minutes of its release and Cydia's servers were bombarded more than 14,000 times per second at the peak of the traffic spike. There were a lot of iOS users fearful that this new jailbreak would be lost with the introduction of iOS 6.1.1 beta 1 by Apple but this fear has been squashed by Pod2g which is great news for the moment. When Apple seeded iOS 6.1.1 to developers many feared that they would close the vulnerabilities in iOS 6 that allowed the Evad3rs to produce the untethered jailbreak for more than twenty iOS devices. After downloading and inspecting the firmware build, Pod2g took to Twitter to let all his followers know that iOS 6.1.1 is still susceptible to the exploits contained in Evasi0n. This is great news for everyone who is enjoying having a fully functioning untethered jailbreak on devices such as the iPhone 5 and the fifth generation iPod Touch. Pod2g's tweet also came with a warning that although Apple hasn't fixed the jailbreak with iOS 6.1.1 beta 1, users should still stay clear of downloading and installing this build if they have access to an official developer account. Apple may have chosen not to immediately combat the vulnerabilities but the Evasi0n tool is not yet set up to liberate this particular version. Apple hasn't introduced anything big with the initial beta of iOS 6.1.1 and it is highly likely that a second or third beta release will contain the security changes necessary to prevent Evasi0n which can jailbreak iOS 6.1 from injecting the jailbreak files in the next firmware public release. At the moment Evasi0n hasn't been patched but as always it looks like we should sit tight on the currently supported firmware and wait to see how things pan out.

This is the news that we have all been anxiously waiting for and this jailbreak as we already know is compatible with all versions of iOS 6 released. It also supports every device on which the latest release of Apple's firmware can run. Once this tool is ready and released to the public every iPhone from 3GS upwards along with every iPad and iPod touch will be jailbreakable provided that they are running some variety of iOS 6. This jailbreak has been a long time coming and many of us have been following the updates since the September release of iOS 6.
