Skype seems to be constantly in the news since they were acquired by Microsoft. It seems they are trying to turn Skype into a real money spinner and by the looks of things they really are going in the right direction. Skype is being incorporated into everything at the moment and the latest is the introduction of Skype WiFi which allows users to access their Skype credit in WiFi hotspots.

Skype has been integrated with Facebook and it is also available for the iPad too. The latest release sees Skype using a WiFi finder app that can be used with the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Users can pay for usage on WiFi hotspots using Skype credits and lets face it, the prices are going to be hard for people to ignore.

Some mobile providers do offer a decent amount of data allowance while others are very restricted and these means that smartphone users do use WiFi hotspots whenever they can. With the new Skype WiFi feature, uses can use their Skype credits and they also get unlimited data. For promotional purposes, this service is going to be offered free of charge from Saturday the 20th of August through to Sunday the 21st of August. There is a free limit applied of one hour before you will need to add funds to your account.

If promoted correctly, this could be really useful to people and it really will save people a lot of money if they just want to check emails or see what is happening on Facebook. Skype WiFi for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch can be downloaded via the iTunes Store so be sure to check it out this weekend for free.
